Which car should I bring to Portland? Fiesta ST - Fun and cool or CX-3 comfy and easygoing? I know my wife has a strong bias towards crossover town. The ST isn’t a comfy place to spend long periods of time.

ST. You know it’s the best choice.

That architecture is confusing. So, is your house narrow, and everything is above the car port and that front door? Why does the other house have a garage and yours doesn’t? Are the houses connected?
Wait. Those are TWO separate houses on the end?

ST, it’s worth sleeping on couch.

You mean the wife who puts up with you owning three vehicles in a place that's insanely expensive to own one, and you don't have anywhere to put them all? I suggest you keep her happy.

I do actually want to get to Portland.

CX-3 - leave the boring hwy miles to the hwy mile eater.

Stacked townhome. I have the basement and the middle floor, the garage person next to me has the two top floors.

This is the correct answer I think

ST. Just make ample stops for food and views. It's not THAT uncomfortable

Is that how it works? South is downhill?
If so, the way back is gonna suuuuck

That’s, yeah, I’m still confused. Thanks for clarifying, though.

That looks like what they’re doing to a bunch of neighborhoods here. Scraping single family homes and putting as many attached units as they can on a lot.
![]() 03/04/2019 at 19:46 |

Oh. Yeah! I’ve been thinking that. I kinda fantasize about putting Reiger suspension on it sometimes...

What sucks is this place is $500K. Mmm bc housing
![]() 03/04/2019 at 20:23 |

I mean Portland is a hell of a drive from where you are so CX-3 it if you want to keep your brain where it should be

It’s 5 hours. Not that far

Is that Canadollars? Not that I want to make this a competition, but welcome to Denver. I’m torn between selling my place and retiring or renting it out and moving to Mexico. Unfortunately they don’t allow row houses in my neighborhood or the lot would be worth several hundred thousand more.

my bad! can I change my vote?
![]() 03/04/2019 at 20:59 |

Yikes! I’ve heard Denver is pricy. If my place was in Vancouver....0ver $1M

He's obviously from SURREY, BC
![]() 03/04/2019 at 21:18 |

Yeah, it’s a relatively recent development. When I moved here not quite 10 years ago that would’ve been a $175ish neighborhood, mostly because they were installing the light rail on the south side of those photos (so it was more than the nearby blocks of $120-150ish houses). I was looking yesterday and nearly half of the houses within a couple blocks of me have sold in the last 4 years as people capitalize and get out. Gentrification, here we come.
![]() 03/04/2019 at 22:09 |

Yeah, I assumed it would be pricey. And I thought THIS was getting expensive. Pretty color, though! I literally searched for 10+ minutes to find a good local home because Zillow doesn’t let you search by subdivision name and school district.

That's interesting. We just stack em 3 or 4 stories high, here.
![]() 03/04/2019 at 22:55 |
|
Just out of curiousity, what have you done to the ST to make it uncomfortable on long drives..?
![]() 03/04/2019 at 22:57 |
|
Have you ridden in one? Stock, they have quite firm suspension. So that’s a big one. The seats, recaros, are not the most ideal for an 8 hour journey along the coast and the exhaust can get loud at lower revs.
![]() 03/04/2019 at 22:58 |
|
we do too, but mine is an older building (91) and in a nicer(ish) area so luckly not to bad
![]() 03/04/2019 at 23:00 |

Do you own, or are you renting from the owner?
... Too personal?

I own, nah, it's no big deal.

I remember you lamenting you could never (not never, but you) afford anything downtown, but I think as the insanity continues to skyrocket and density increases, your townhome will be a cash cow at the very least, and an escape.
![]() 03/04/2019 at 23:12 |
|
yeah. Downtown is not really something I’d be interested in, but something with a garage? One day, hopefully.

Move to Seattle! No I'm just kidding please don't do that to yourself.
![]() 03/04/2019 at 23:18 |

I feel that living where I live I can have all the benefits of being in Seattle (I can make it there pretty quickly) without actually being an American
![]() 03/04/2019 at 23:21 |
|
I havent ridden in one yet, but I can imagine, from the stuff you mentioned, how it feels. Add near-solid engine mounts to the mix and voila, youre driving my car.
![]() 03/05/2019 at 00:16 |
|
Even my FoST with totally stock suspension is pretty rough to drive for long periods of time. If you don’t fit in the seats flawlessly, it’s not great, then when you add in stiff suspension and low profile tires, they become pretty hateful cars for long drives. They’re a grin factory on curvy mountain roads, but definitely not highway cruisers.
![]() 03/05/2019 at 01:15 |
|
I honestly had not expected that from a modern Ford performance car. I figured them to be sort of a perfect blend between a cruiser and a sporty hatch, especially the ST versions, whereas the RS would be the next step (pretty much what youre describing). If the ST's are like that, I'm seriously wondering what an RS would feel like.
![]() 03/05/2019 at 01:42 |
|
I believe the 13-14 ones had more forgiving suspension from the factory. Mine has suspension tuned by Team RS, which is so much lower that people with the earlier cars thought mine was lowered when bone stock. They’re also on low profile tires, where my winter set that I’m on feel plush compared to my stock summer set. The suspension is simply too stiff for the abysmal condition of most US roads; it’d probably be fine on roads in much of Europe.
And the RSs range from very harsh to insane, depending on the setting. I couldn’t imagine using one as a DD.
